Silica or silicon dioxide (SiO2) is most commonly found in nature as quartz. It is noncombustible, colorless or white and is in crystal form. It is the main component of most sand and the primary ingredient in glass. Because of its chemical inertness and considerable hardness, silica is the most common mineral resistant to weathering. High purity sand, almost entirely composed of silica, is major industrial commodity.
It can only be used with open style vertical machines.
Specific gravity: 2.65
Limits of use: Medium density fluid systems. Mill base or paste must be less than 14-15 lbs. / gal. If mill base cannot be thinned, a higher density media is indicated.
The available option is 20-30 mesh size and comes available in 50 lbs. and 10 lbs. increments.
